TYPES OF SCANNERS
by balwinderbadwal96 on Mar.25, 2010, under Uncategorized
In this blog i will be talking about different types of scanners and how each different scanner functions.
The first scanner that i will talking about is the FLATBED SCANNER this scanner is often usedto scan books and photographs. The FLATBED SCANNER has a sheet feeder to scan multiple images. The FLATBED SCANNER works like this it has a scanner head which consists of an array of image sensors, which lie beneath the glass and move along the item, whilst capturing the image.

The second scanner is HANDHELD SCANNER which a scanner which is portable small scanner. When using this scanner it is difficult to scan an image so you need to carefully pass the scanner head across the item that you want to scan. When a largeritem is scanned which is bigger than the handhel scanners head you must make more than one pass to capture the full image. It could be very difficult to recreate the image but the images must beput back into one full single image of the item which was scanned.

The third types of scanner is a DRUM SCANNER which produces a high-quality transfer of an image. This scanner is usually used commercially and many drum scanner can also be used for high-end reproduction. An example of this could be phototgraphs in museums. If you want to scan a image using the drum scanner, you need to attach the image to a revolving drumor load into a supporting canister. the drum inside the drum scanner roatates at very high speeds across optical scanner. The optical scanner carries on moving slowly across the drum until the whole of the image is completed and is captured. The captured image is then reproduced by the computer as a digital image file.
The last type of printer is ALL-in-one scanner which can scan, print send faxes and make copies, This scanner can do all the jobs that the scanners do above.

In one of the cisco lessons we got put into groups of 3 or 4 pupils and were required to install a inkjet printer on to a desktop which functioned correctly. We also had to check if the printer was printing out the write files that we told it to.
So in this presention i will show you how to install a printer onto a Desktop and show the steps how to install a printers drive correctly and easily.
In order to locate where the printer is placed on the desktop follow these steps.
First go to Start button and then click on Devices and Printer and you will see the print and faxes area were the printer will appear when you finished the installation
First of all you need to locate where the printer will be loaded when it is installed correctly
Then you will need to find out which printer and which model you are trying to install on to your desktop.

You will need a Printer USB Cable connecting the printer to the desktop for the data transfer data in order for the printer to print files.
Then find a website on the internet that allows you to download the correct drive for the printer and for the operating system.

After this, You will find a button that will allow you to download the driver of the printer, and let clcik on run in order for it to install the printers drive.
Once the download is completed go back to the

And check if the printer drive has been installed. The printers icon will appear like this if it has been installed correctly.
And then test the printer to check if it is working correctly and prints the right files that are needed.

For the intro for chapter 7 i have learnt many different types of printer which were:
Laser Printer are printers that use eletrophotographic technology and
Inkjet Printer are printers that use eletrostatic technology and finally the last one is
Dot Matrix Printer which uses impact technology
and i also learnt about the speed of a printer printing out paper which can be measured in PAGES PER MINUTES.

I also learnt about products cost and how realible they can be and what you would need to do to make sure you dont lose money and how different systems work in the business market work and finally we talked about the colours and quality of the print out and only uses 4 colours: Black, Cyan,Yellow, Magenta which are only needed to produces all the colours in the entire world.
And how you measure the quality of a print out which is dots per inch DPI and the resolution of a image which can be low or high.
