How to add a Lexmark (x3350) printer to your computer.

How to add a printer to a computer.

This is an example of how to add a certain type of printer to your computer. My group and I did a Lexmark printer. So this is what the blog will be about.

1.)    First of all you need internet. (Because, we didn’t have the disk to install the printer, so we used the internet).

First, go to your internet browser. Type in: www.google.co.uk

Then in the “Google” search bar type in: Lexmark, then hit enter.

After that, go to “Lexmark UK” and give it a good old double click. (Wait for the site to load).

A website like this will pop up.

Once you have done that, look for “DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS” and just double click on it, (a drop down box will appear, ignore it and just click on the “DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS” one more time).

After that step, this will appear.

Down below, within the search bar, type x3350.

Don’t hit enter once you have typed it, just when the “Printer Image” shows above, click on that.

When you have done that, look for the top download which should say:

Lexmark 3300 Software support for Mac OS X 10.6
Lexmark 3300 Web Installer 10.6.dmg (Click on the link and until next page).

Then click “Download Now”.

It should pop up at the top of the browser or down bellow, just allow/accept/run it, so it can download.

[If it doesn’t automatically give you the option to install it then, just click on: Lexmark 3300 Web Installer 10.6 dmg.

Then carry on from there. Thankyou for reading.

A pea size intro on stuff I know about printers.

March 8th, 2010

Hey all.

Did you know that the first printer was called a type writer and was made around the mid 80′s? for the type writers you have a sheet of paper,w hich slots into the carage. When you type, it hits ink onto the paper by a small hammerd shape.

Did you know that the later on veron was/is called an inkjet printer? This uses different coloured inks. It spreys the letters or numbers/pictures or images onto the paper.  Offices used this because it was and still is a brilliant piece of technology to print off work or data.

Did you know an even modern verson was/is called a laser printer? These are usely used in schools to print of letters, and in companys for different databases and stuff.

Hey there, this is a summary of Chapter 6: Laptops and Portable Devices.

By: RLN: Corey N Bush. BLOG: Enter my computer…

  • Content Page.

Chapter 6 pages:

1.) Introduction.
2.) Portable devices.
3.) The advantage of having a laptop.
4.) Components of the laptop.
5.) Laptop Docking Station.
6.) Simple Maintanence.

  • Introduction.

What is a better reason to use a laptop then a desktop?
[Answer: Laptops are more portable than desktops].
You know how to use a desktop? Right? Well this is your chance just to have a small summary idea of a laptop. You should have the chance to understand laptops a bit better, before you take the chapter 6 course.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • Portable Devices.

Every portable device has its own unique features, such as: PDA’s they are a type of portable organizer. – So they will have e-mail, calendars, possible instant messaging, web surfing and games. However they are unable to make phone calls and send text messages like smart phones and mobile phones. Laptops have all the features/applications of a PDA and much more.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • Advantage of a laptop

Would you rather have a laptop to talk to your friends or work-mates? I thought so! — Wouldn’t you just love to be able to type up a word document at work, then write a hole essay going through thousands of pens and paper? I thought so!
Having a laptop is such a privilege, you can do so much with just  this ONE portable device! GAMES! INSTANT MESSAGING! E-MAIL! ONLINE BROWSING! &, so, so, so much more! You can place it on your lap, place it on your tale, it can be placed everywhere!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • Components of a laptop.
  1. Integrated display screen in lid.
  2. Integrated keyboard.
  3. AC power source or rechargeable battery.
  4. Hot-Swappable drives and peripherals.
  5. Some type of docking station or port replicator to connect to peripherals.
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________
  • Laptop Docking Station.

The Docking Station allows the laptop to have power cabled plugged in. Since the laptop on its own wouldn’t have the slots, it also has the battery on the Docking Station.

What is on the top of the Docking Station?

  1. The Power Button!
  2. The Eject Button!
  3. The Docking Connector!

What is on the back of the Docking Station?

  1. The Exhaust Vent!
  2. The AC Power Connector!
  3. The PC Card/Express Card Slot!
  4. The VGA Port!
  5. The DVI Port!
  6. The Line In Connector!
  7. The Headphone Connector!
  8. The USB Port!
  9. The Mouse Port!
  10. The Keyboard Port!
  11. The External-Diskette-Drive Connector!
  12. The Parallel Port!
  13. The Serial Port!
  14. The Modem Port!
  15. He Ethernet Port!

Did you know that the Docking Station must be locked into place?
The Docking Station is secured by a key (Which is on the right side of the Docking Station). However some Docking Station is possibly locked with a large locking handle just to keep it connected to the Laptop.

 Disk Defragment.

SIMPLE MAINTENANCE! YES , SIMPLE MAINTENANCE!
Just basically keeping your computer running nice and smoothly!
Such as; 1.) Using Disk Dragment!
2.) Keeping your vents clean/clear, so nothing is blocking them so that the air is not trapped! or to try and clean them out so there is no dust in them!
3.) Or just removing annoying cookies and caches from your computer! [PLEASE: Click the link below to see how to clear cookies out of your/a laptop/computer].

Mobile Phone Technologies!!!

February 4th, 2010
  • When you first started off with an old 80′s mobile phone it was known as the brick. The graphics on it were appauling, it was just really designed for business’s and taxis. It expanded for homes, then into popular portaple phones so you can call family, friends or work while walking around. A later on updation of a mobile phone is now known as a smartphone, because the development of it is much greater quality of an old mobile phone (brick -Analogue phone). The newest phones have better graphics, applications, better memory and longer lasting battery. – With a 1g phone the signal was pretty bad, even though it was known as a WAP phone (Wireless Application Phone) 1G – NMT (Replaced wires Telephones)   AMPS (Replaces Wired Telephones)
  • Later on they designed and upgraded mobile phones, they became more popular. The development companys made it more ergonomically advanced, so you could hold it in the palm 0f your hand, put it inside your bag, pocket and it was just so simple. Graphics upgraded, applications became much better and easyer to understand/use, along with the WAP and storage amount.

!Comparing desktops + laptops components. (Yeah boii!)

February 3rd, 2010

INFORMATION: Did you know, that most of  the desktop functions can be also performed by laptops? However the parts within these computers are not the same, to be honest there is barley no  resemblance what so ever. [The outside of them are layed out differently but roughly have the same keys, and buttons]. Like the DVD-CD-RW because  sometimes they use the same manufacturers/ that is an example of a standard form factor. Laptops are way more compact than desktops, so that would be why you find smaller technical parts and components inside a laptop other than a desktop. (Cisco Note:  Technicians may have to obtain certification for each laptop manufacturer that they support).

MOTHERBOARDS: If you compare a laptops motherboard and a desktops motherboard, you can so totally see the difference between them. A desktops motherboard is a great big sqaure circuit with components fitted into it. A laptops motherboard is small and has an unique shape, just like a puzzle piece, less components and if so they are all fitted to be 2D.

CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT: Laptops cpu’s are designed to use less power, which should reduce the heat amount that is produced. So they are not made with cooling devices, that you would not find with a desktops cpu. OTHER INFO: Laptop is also PORTABLE! You can walk around with it and the best thing about it is that it’s so small you actually can put it anywhere you like! However, the power is a trouble. Unlike laptops desktops take in electric from the mains all the time, with a laptop it needs to be consistently charged.  Submitted by – C.Bush!
