Disadvantages
1) Noisy
2) Low resolution graphics
3) Limited colour capability
Advantages
1) Inexpensive consumables
2) Continues feed paper
3) Carbon copy printing ability
4) Slow printing, 32-76 character per sec
Impact printers are very basic printers. Impact printers have print heads that strike the inked ribbon, causing characters to be imprinted on the paper
Inkjet Printers

Disadvantages
1) Nozzels are prone to clogging
2) Ink is expernsive
3) Ink is wet after printing
Advantages
1) Low cost
2) High resolution
3) Quick to warm up
Inkjet printers produce high-quality prints. Inkjet printers are easy to use and inexpensive compared to laser printers.
Solid-ink Printers

Disadvantage
1) Printer is expensive
2) Ink is expensive
3) They ate slow to warm up
Advantage
1) Produce vibent color
2) Easy ot use
3) Different types of paper

Disadvantages

Advantages
1) Longer life because there are few moving parts
2) Images are poor quality

Disadvantages
1) Media can be expensive
Printer are better colour for greyscale
Advantage
1) Printers produce high-quality images
2) Overcoat layer reduces smearing
Dye-sublimation printers produce photo-quality images for graphic printing. This type of printer uses solid sheets of ink that change directly from solid to gas, in a process called sublimating .
Flatbed Scanners
Flatbed scanners are often used to scan books and photographs for archiving. An electronic image is placing the book or photograph face down on the glass. The scanner head, consisting of an array of image sensors, lies beneath the glass and moves along the item, capturing the image.
Handheld Scanners
A handheld scanner is small and portable. It is difficult to smoothly scan an image using a handheld scanner. To scan an item, carefully pass the scanner head across the item that you want to scan. As with a flatbed scanner, digital images are made from the images collected by the handheld scanner.
Drum Scanner

| Drum scanners produce a high-quality transfer of an image. Drum scanners are usually used commercially but are being replaced by lower-priced, high-quality flatbed scanners. Many drum scanners are still in use for high-end reproductions, such as archiving photographs in museums. |
