Solid Ink Printer:

This printer is called the Phaser and it is a solid ink printer Xerox make these types of printers because they give you the best colours picture.

These are the main functions of the newest and best phaser out at the moment:

  • Make short work of long print runs and complex jobs with fast 35 ppm
    colour printing.
  • No job too big or too small: prints on any media up to 280 gsm
    and 1200 x 320 mm banner sheet.s
  • Simple, web-based print management with CentreWare IS.
  • Expert features at your fingertips with black trapping and pre-defined
    colour profiles.
  • Consistent print quality that can be relied upon with true Adobe PS3
    and Pantone approved colour tables.
  • One of the more important aspects of the acquisition of the Tektronix divisions is that Xerox decided to keep the Tektronix staff and support services, as Tektronix is a well known name for high-performance and high-quality printers. This was a very important move for Xerox since Tektronix had a very good marketing campaign, attending all major tradeshows and excellent customer service.

    Thermal Printer:

This is a printer that produces characters by applying heat to special paper that is sensitive to heat. A printer that uses heat to duplicate images. Specific heat-sensitive paper is necessary, and copies can fade over time. Uses heat from a printhead to darken letters and images to thermal paper which comes in rolls. A thermal printer uses special, chemically treated label stock that changes colors when heated.

These are main functions of a thermal printer:

  • High speed output – up to 180mm / sec.
  • “Drop-In & Print”, Easy Load paper loading.
  • Large paper roll capacity (up to 180mm diameter).
  • Multiple paper width (45-82.5mm adjustable).
  • One piece transparent cover.
  • Two color output available.
  • Variable position high quality black mark sensor.
  • Available housing colors: Putty, Black and Red (as a special order).

  • Printer that prints by heating spots on the paper with an array of tiny, fast-acting heating elements. Thermal printers are among the least expensive printers, are relatively quiet, and are often used on calculators and very-low-priced computers. However, they require special paper that may discolor with age. See also Daisy-Wheel Printer; Dot-Matrix Printer.

    Ink Jet Printer:

In the real world, a printer outputting at a mere 600 dots per inch may well produce better prints than one outputting 2,400 dots per inch (dpi). The reason is that there are many other elements at work, such as how accurately the software that controls the printer, known as a driver, can manage the printer.

    Functions:

A device for the printing of documents which that operates by propelling tiny droplets of liquid ink onto paper.

Ink jet printer is a printer that uses a small liquid ink cartridge to print. These cartridges can be refilled.

A type of printer that sprays dots of ink onto paper to create an image. Inkjet printers are normally inexpensive. Better-quality inkjet printers can attain near photo quality output.

A popular tool of scrapbookers and paper crafters for printing photographs, clipart, journaling, and other images for use on layouts, etc. The inks are not always waterproof or suitable for archival pieces.

Inkjet printers are inexpensive to buy but cost alot to maintain. Inkjet printers though are easy to maintenance because most of the electrics are in the cartridge. Inkjets are cheap to but cost alot of money to run.

    Dot-Matrix Printer:

Is a type of computer printer with a print head that runs back and forth, or in an up and down motion, on the page and prints by impact, striking an ink-soaked cloth ribbon against the paper. The dot matrix is more durable than most printers and can endure the heat of the work place.

A type of printer that prints by driving a set of pins onto an inked ribbon, pressing small portions of the ribbon against the paper so dots of ink appear on the paper. The dots are close together and appear to be letters or graphic shapes.
