Bandwidth is the number of data that can be transmitted in a fixed time period. There are different amounts of data that can be sent at one time. When the data is sent from a network to a host (computer) it is broken up into small bits called packets. The packets are then sent out through the firewall to the internet and to the user by following the Please Do Not Throw Soggy Pizza Away meaning the 7 stages in the packet sending programe.

Bandwidth is measured in bits per second (bps) and is described using the followin units
- Bps- bits per second
- Kbps-kilobits per second
- Mbps-megabits per second
One byte is equal to eight bits.one MBps is approximately 8 Mbps.
